Supporting new and renovated libraries, 2009 - present
We at the Palo Alto Library Foundation are delighted that Measure N passed in November 2008. This bond will fund badly needed renovations of the three libraries that still need to be updated. However, according to state law, bonds can only pay for design and construction of buildings. This means that another source of funding must be found for the new books, shelves and sofas, and computers and checkout machines.
So, the Palo Alto Library Foundation is currently laying the groundwork for a major campaign to fill our renovated libraries with new furniture, equipment and thousands of books. Stay tuned for more information throughout 2009!
How your donation helps
We're planning to provide 50,000 books for the opening of Mitchell Park in 2012.
We want to be able to provide dozens of new computers, sound stations, wall displays, and stand-alone music kiosks for our new libraries.
We need modern, accessible furniture for our new and expanded libraries including shelves, small and large tables, and reading chairs.
